![]() ![]() Minus the stuff you came to expect that was in previous titles. I feel all kinds of personally insulted right now because it came out as a $60 game already. On top of that, the Abyssal Armor (yet another thing that came standard in every other game) is something you have to pay for as well through the DLC. The thing that was free in the previous title will now also make you fight for your right to improve your wrath abilities that came standard in every other title. However, this would be changed as well as adding really well designed bosses later.in DLC.back to the negatives. Gameplay is not all sunshine and rainbows though. The wrath abilities could not be improved at all. Between Hollow Shifting, combo resets, arcane openers, 9 different weapons, and the multitude of arcane counter attacks makes the combat almost as complex and deep as Darksiders 2. It's branch path whip combos, while really short, does it's job well is keeping her fighting style fluid and a constant stream of attacks. It give the player a lot of freedom to create their own combos using all four Hollows. I can't believe I am saying this, but the combat is really competently made. Except at least he had different phases to consider I suppose. But it felt more like a repeat of the Absalom scenario all over again. I thought for sure it would take a lot more effort and all my skill. My first play through I was stunned by just how easily I completely it. ![]() She does not have multiple phases and nothing that you really need to keep an eye out for. And SPEAKING of disappointing bosses, the Envy fight was absurdly disappointing because by the time you reach her, there is no reason to do anything else besides Havoc form and just decimating her. Lord of the Hollows fight being more disappointing than thrilling. That and just for the fun of fighting one or both the bosses. Then there is the Lord of the Hollows "side quest" that feels rather empty in game with no real reason to do it other than just to see a slightly different conclusion in how it happens but with the same results. As if they wanted to recreate what they had with DS1 but we're not entirely sure how to do it without making it a one to one. Go take on boss, talk to big dude from the beginning of the game (Samael/ Lord of the Hollows). Game's story plays out similarly how DS1 played out. And the game's writing is content to keep smacking you in the face with it's hints about the watcher. We already have an inherent distrust for their watchers due to past experiences. We already knew the Chard Council are corrupt. The whole twist reveal was hardly impactful for anyone that has played DS1. ![]() But if you have to make it stretch to even get half the Sins to reflect off our main character you either failed as a writer, the concept is a failure, or it was not supposed to the original concept at all. Which is amusing because it is only during those fights do we see how Fury has come to terms with those inner demons. Problem is, you can only say at the most she has a problem with only 3 of them. The story is supposed to be about Fury and how she is supposed to grow from each encounter with the Seven Deadly and how they are a reflection of what is already inside her. ![]()
